VIDEO: Body cam captures frightening explosion

Firefighter suffered facial burns following propane tank explosion

LIMESTONE, Maine – Body cam video captured a frightening explosion that injured one firefighter in northern Maine last week.

Limestone police chief Stacey Mahan posted the video to his department's Facebook page, showing a propane tank explosion at a property in a wooded area.

The Bangor Daily News reports volunteer firefighter Scott Patten was attempting to control the fire when one of the tanks exploded.

Patten suffered first- and second-degree burns to his face, but was able to walk away from the fire.

In the post, the fire chief was in awe of those who protect his town.

"I commend those that want to, "put the wet stuff on the red stuff" and lay their lives on the line each and every time they head out." said Mahan. "This incident is a prime example of how things can change in an instant."

Chief Mahan and another firefighter were thrown to the ground following the blast.
