Gunman sought in late-night pharmacy robberies in Broward County

Surveillance cameras capture armed robber making threats

DANIA BEACH, Fla. – Roosevelt Fleurijeune said a "desperate" gunman is on the loose.

Fleurijeune works at Walgreens, 501 E. Sheridan St., in Dania Beach. He was behind the cash register about 11 p.m. on a Sunday when a man pointed a gun at him. His hands were shaking. He wasn't wearing gloves when he took out items out of a bag and left them behind.

He shouted at Fleurijeune, 22, and told him he had two minutes to open the register and hand over the cash -- or else he would kill him. He had a scar over his upper lip, witnesses told police.

"My hands are sweating. My heart is racing," he said. "Am I really about to die at Walgreens?"

Fleurijeune said he even gave the gunman coins. Surveillance cameras captured the terrifying moment Feb. 8th, as a man with a medium build -- wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt and striped gray sweatpants -- rushed in.

"I tried to get him out of there as soon as possible," he said.

He also pointed his weapon to customers in the store. On his way out, the robber took a man's cell phone.

Broward Sheriff's Office deputies said the gunman is a suspect in other recent robberies -- including one at CVS Pharmacy in Hollywood.

"He is a very scary man, desperate man," he said." I can only imagine what that (CVS) cashier is going through."
