Warning issued over potentially dangerous Siri prank

iPhone users told to avoid asking 'assistant' to dial 108

MIAMI – Police are warning iPhone users of a dangerous prank that involves the Apple smartphone "assistant" Siri.

According to officials, social media posts have been encouraging users to say the number 108 to Siri. Authorities are advising customers to avoid doing this at all costs.

The posts claim requesting the number will direct Siri to laugh or tell a joke or story.

However, having Siri dial 108 will automatically connect a caller to the nearest 911 dispatch center.

The unnecessary calls tie up lines and prevent real emergency calls from being answered, putting lives in danger.
