Water near Pompano Pier retested after bacteria was found

Results to be released Monday afternoon

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – The Florida Department of Health will be releasing new test results on Monday after high levels of bacteria were found in the water south of the Pompano Pier.

If the water comes back clean, a swim advisory will be lifted.

"The beach is still opened," city spokeswoman Sandra King said Friday. "The bacteria level is just higher than normal but it's in the area that we like to advise people it's probably best not to swim right there."

Certain types of bacteria can cause gastroenteritis.

The new results will be posted at floridahealth.gov/healthy-environments/beach-water-quality/index.html.
