Man arrested in Michigan with stolen gun, shoe box of live baby squirrels

Convicted felon stopped after taking expired candy from dumpster, police say

CHESTERFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A convicted felon who was arrested in Chesterfield Township for having a stolen handgun and marijuana also had a shoe box of live baby squirrels in his pickup truck, police said.

Ian Breiholz, 32, of Kimball, was questioned May 10 by police officers after someone saw him digging something out of a dumpster at a CVS Pharmacy on Gratiot Avenue.

Police said a search of Breiholz’s pickup turned up expired candy bars that the store had thrown out. Police officers also found drugs, drug paraphernalia, the gun and the baby squirrels.

Breiholz is charged with receiving and concealing a stolen firearm, being a felon in possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed firearm and improperly transporting medical marijuana.
