West: Apology To Wasserman Schultz 'Not Happening'

Source Says Wasserman Schultz Not Expecting Apology

MIAMI – U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz of Weston, a Democrat, kept a low profile Thursday, but her adversary, U.S. Rep. Allen West, a Republican from Plantation, kept their feud going.

When asked on Fox Business if he was willing to apologize to Wasserman Schultz for a tough email he sent her Tuesday , West replied, "Not happening."

In his email, West, who represents the 22nd Congressional District, called Wasserman Schultz, who represents the 20th, "vile" and "despicable." He was responding to her comments on the House floor Tuesday in which she had criticized him for supporting a GOP bill to "cut, cap and balance" Medicare.

Wasserman Schultz, who also chairs the Democratic National Committee, is a strong opponent of the Republican measure. A source close to the congresswoman said she hadn't received an apology from West and didn't expect one.

In his interview on Fox, West defended his criticism of Wasserman Schultz.

"Finally, I have the right to stand up and defend my honor and make sure this kind of activity does cease," West said.
