Woman arrested after causing fiery crash on Florida's Turnpike

Nina Rodriguez suspected of DUI after car drifts into back of pickup truck

BOCA RATON, Fla. – A Boynton Beach woman was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after she caused a fiery crash Friday morning on Florida's Turnpike in Boca Raton.

The crash occurred about 7:30 a.m. in the northbound lanes just south of Glades Road.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol report, Nina Rodriguez, 34, was driving her Chevrolet Malibu when it drifted off the turnpike and slammed into the back of a pickup truck stopped on the shoulder.

The pickup truck burst into flames, but not before the three people inside were able to get out safely.

According to the FHP report, Rodriguez's blood-alcohol level was .116, well above the legal limit of .08.
