Woman ejected from vehicle with life threatening injuries

Police looking for suspect

MIAMI – A woman is hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after police say she was run over by a car in broad daylight on Tuesday afternoon.

According to Miami Police, the woman was driving in a pickup truck with a man in the area of NW First Avenue and 10th Street around 2:35 pm when she somehow ended up on the ground outside of the car.

The driver of the car then ran over her body before driving eastbound on 10th Street.

"This is a puzzling investigation," Sergeant Freddie Cruz told Local 10. "We don't know what happened, whether she was ejected on her own or was pushed out of the vehicle."

Surveillance video doesn't show how she ended up on the ground, but it shows the rear tires of the truck running over the woman and the truck driving away. She was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital.

Miami Police are now looking for a man in his 30s who may be driving an older model dark colored Dodge Ram pickup truck. It is described as having an extended cab with a missing tailgate and several dents and scratches.

"We know someone saw something. Someone heard something. Someone knows something. We need someone to please come forward. Help out us out with this investigation and let's capture the person responsible for this crime."

Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
