Woman found shot, killed outside northwest Miami-Dade County home

Police initially called to reports of gunfire but found nothing

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A woman was shot and killed Tuesday morning in northwest Miami-Dade County.

Miami-Dade police said officers were called to reports of gunfire about 2:30 a.m. at a home in the 2900 block of Northwest 43rd Terrace, but they did not find anyone injured.

Police said it wasn't until the residents woke up Tuesday morning that they found the woman outside, dead from a gunshot wound.

Precious Dennis, who lives a few homes away, said she heard six gunshots.

"It scares you, because you're sleeping and I have a little baby, so he's sleeping and you hear something like that," said a neighbor identified as Precious. "You (are) trying to hold on to him, making sure there nothing's going on, and my grandmother's in there. So we're all scared, not trying to move because you don't know where (the gunshots are) coming from."

The 49-year-old victim was identified by police as Caroline Frye.

"All the killing and stuff that's going on, it needs to stop," Frye's aunt, Elizabeth Gibson, told Local 10 News. "It's so heartless."

Gibson said Frye is a mother of three.

While circumstances leading up to the shooting are unclear, neighbors told Local 10 News that the home where the shooting occurred is a known drug house.
