Woman injured in crash involving Sunrise police cruiser

Police say cruiser traveling with lights, sirens on at time of crash

SUNRISE, Fla. – A crash involving a Sunrise police officer sent a woman to a hospital Sunday night.

The crash occurred at Sunrise Boulevard and Northwest 136th Avenue about 7:45 p.m.

Sunrise police said a police cruiser was traveling with its lights and sirens on in the northbound lanes of Northwest 136th Avenue when it was struck by a car traveling west on Sunrise Boulevard.

The driver of the car was taken to the Cleveland Clinic. Her condition was not immediately known.

The officer driving the police cruiser was not hospitalized.
