MIAMI – A woman injured in a hit-and-run crash was set to be released from Jackson Memorial Hospital on Tuesday.
Eugenia Piedrahita suffered a large cut to her head, scrapes, and bruises, according to her niece, Sharon Rojas.
The crash at Northwest 58th Street and 22nd Avenue late Monday flipped the Toyota 4Runner that Piedrahita and two others were riding in.
"The car came out of nowhere, took the stop light, hit her, and the car spins twice, and then from there she doesn't remember anything," said Rojas.
Police believe the hit-and-driver was behind the wheel of a silver or grey 2014 Buick LaCrosse.
"You don't just hit someone and keep driving. You need to stop and see if they're okay," said Rojas. "Thank God they were wearing their seat belts. If not, they wouldn't be with us today."
