Broward Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Gina Carter said the victim, Amanda Crews, 39, was struck by an older-model, full-size utility vehicle or pickup truck as she attempted to cross the street in the eastbound lanes.

The impact sent Crews, who is from West Palm Beach, in a northeast direction where she came to rest in the bicycle lane.

Carter said the driver fled north on 31st Avenue.

Crews was taken by paramedics to Broward Health Medical Center where she is listed in critical condition.

Detectives believe that the vehicle likely has damage to the passenger side headlight assembly and leading edge of the hood. It is also missing it's radio antenna.

Anyone with information about the identity of the driver is asked to call Detective Michael Wiley at 954-321-4841 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS. A reward of up to $3,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest and conviction.
