Woman robbed, hit with car

Robber runs over woman at Sunoco gas station in Homestead

HOMESTEAD, Fla. – A woman was transported to Kendall Regional Medical Center on Monday morning after she was robbed and hit with a car at a gas station in Homestead.

The robbery happened at the Sunoco gas station at 1106 N. Homestead Boulevard about 11:15 a.m.

"What he's doing right now is waiting for an opportune time to just go in to her car," said Homestead Police Det. Fernando Morales. "When he felt comfortable enough, he exited his vehicle, attempted to enter her vehicle to steal her purse."

Surveillance video showed the robber open the driver's side door on the woman's car. They struggled and as he drove away without her purse, he ran her over.

"As he's speeding away, you're going to see her feet on the bottom behind her car," said Morales. "And you see these indicators when the subject's not pumping gas, he's just sitting in his car watching you -- you might want to stop pumping gas, maybe lock your car, go in through the passenger side."

The woman was listed in serious condition.

The robber is described as being in his early 20s with a sculptured goatee and short hair.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
