Woman run over by man at Homestead gas station speaks out

John Croissy arrested Thursday night, accused of running over woman

HOMESTEAD, Fla. – A woman who was taken to the hospital speaks out after being run over by a man at a South Florida gas station.

John Croissy, 26, was taken into custody Thursday night at his home in North Miami.

Police believe Croissy is the man caught on surveillance video running over Sara Delgado after a robbery attempt at the Sunoco gas station at 1106 N. Homestead Boulevard on August 5.

The video shows a man opening the driver's side door of Delgado's car and sneaking inside. She fights back when he tries to steal her purse, running over her in the process.

"I'm drained physically. Not only physically, emotionally, mentally, morally, spiritually in every aspect," said Delgado. "I have pain everywhere. He took my purse, he took my watch, my ring, my cash and an iPad."

Croissy is in custody and was in court Friday at the Miami-Dade Justice Center, charged with burglary of an unoccupied vehicle, grand theft and armed robbery. He was denied bond.

Police captured him Thursday night after Delgado picked him out of a lineup.

"I had to ID him and I was faced with a bunch of pictures and I immediately knew who he was from dragging me," said Delgado. "You're looking at someone's face and you're saying, 'Oh my God.'"

The injured unemployed mother of three is in need of help herself, in fighting the pain and price of being robbed and run over.

"I need surgery on my back but the doctor at Kendall Regional told me if you get the money, come see me, I'll do the surgery, but I don't accept Medicaid and I have Medicaid with a shared cost," said Delgado.

A special fund has been set up at Power Financial Credit Union to help with Delgado's medical bills, following her nearly $200,000 hospital stay.
