Woman says pit bulls chewed through car

Broward Animal Control reports no strays in Lauderhill neighborhood

LAUDERHILL, Fla. – A Lauderhill woman claimed a pair of stray pit bulls chewed through the quarter panel of her Toyota Yaris.

"This is crazy. Never ever in my life have I ever seen anything like this," said Gail Beckwith while pointing out teeth marks on her car. "They bit right through the car."

Beckwith said the pair is always together near her home in the 3400 block of Northwest 8th Street. She said the dogs chased a cat to her car.

"The cat was resting here and that's why they started pulling this off, so that they could get to the cat," she said.

Beckwith worries for children in the neighborhood.

"If they can do this to a car, imagine what they can do to kids, and there's two schools in the area," she said.

Broward Animal Control officials said they had no reports of stray pit bulls in the neighborhood.
