Woman steals purse from SUV while owner pumps gas in Pinecrest

Police: Estimated value of items stolen $2,200, $110 cash

PINECREST, Fla. – The Pinecrest Police Department has released surveillance video of a woman stealing a purse from the owner of an SUV while the victim was pumping gas.

The robbery happened Sunday at a Mobil gas station on Southwest 104th Street and US-1 around 7:30 p.m.

The thief is seen in the video exiting a dark-gray Volkswagon CC and using a towel to open the victim's driver's door and remove the woman's purse while she was distracted.

Minutes later, the thief was also caught on camera at a second gas station on Southwest 80th Street and US-1 using the victim's credit card to pay for gas. She also went inside the convenience store attempting to purchase drinks but wasn't able to since the clerk asked for identification.

The estimated value of the items stolen from the victim is $2,200 and $110 cash.

Anyone with information about the thief's identity is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
