BSO detectives investigate suspicious death

OAKLAND PARK, Fla. – For the second time in as many days, a woman has been found dead in Oakland Park.

Broward Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Keyla Concepcion said the body of Amaya Cruz, 17, was found shortly after 7 a.m. Wednesday at 58 NW 41st St.

Concepcion said deputies were initially called to the home for a medical emergency, but when they arrived they found Cruz dead.

"It was suspicious in nature," Concepcion said.

Detectives began conducting a suspicious death investigation. They searched and questioned a man in a white T-shirt, placing him in the back of a BSO cruiser as they tried to determine how the woman died.

Cruz's body was transported to the medical examiner's office for an autopsy.
