Miami Dolphins defensive end Jason Taylor was stabbed Sunday night in a road-rage incident, his publicist said.

According to Seth Levin, the three-time Pro Bowl player was stabbed near his Davie home while he and his wife were driving home from church.

"My wife and I were the victims of an unfortunate incident, but we are both fine," Taylor said in a statement.

Taylor, 31, suffered a laceration to his left forearm but said he was "looking forward to a great day of golf" at a charity tournament Monday in Tampa, Fla.

According to the police report, Redmond Burns was driving erratically and ran Taylor's car off the road. Police said when Taylor and Burns, 25, confronted each other, Burns began shouting racial slurs at Taylor and removed from his truck a metal object that he used to cut Taylor.

The police report stated that Taylor called police, who located Burns at his home. Police said Burns kicked and screamed while being handcuffed and taken into custody.

Burns is charged with one count of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, obstruction with violence and obstruction without violence. The aggravated battery count is being treated as a hate crime.

Taylor is entering his 10th season in the NFL with the Dolphins. The 6-foot-6-inch, 255-pound player finished third on the team in tackles last season.
