DETROIT -- Columbus Blue Jackets center Artem Anisimov was taken off the ice, immobilized on a stretcher, 3:48 into the second period of the game against the Detroit Red Wings on Thursday night.
As the players approached the boards behind the Detroit net, Anisimov tripped over Detroit's Ian White and, as Anisimov was falling, White's defense partner, Kyle Quincey, fell, and his elbow came down on the back of Anisimov's head.
After the other players skated away from the pile-up, Anisimov remained face down on the ice and motionless.
The game was delayed while Anisimov was attended to.
Anisimov, a 24-year-old Russian, has four goals and six points in 15 games in his first season with Columbus. He played the previous four seasons for the New York Rangers, posting highs of 18 goals and 26 assists in 2010-11.
