Canadiens sign C Desharnais to 4-year extension
26-year-old's deal worth $14 million

Center David Desharnais signed a four-year, $14 million contract extension with the Montreal Canadiens, the team announced Friday.
Desharnais, who was in the final year of a two-year contract with a $950,000 annual salary, has 32 goals and 99 points in three seasons and 157 regular-season games with the Canadiens. This year, he has eight goals and 16 points in 27 games.
The 26-year-old undrafted free agent had a breakthrough season in 2011-12 with 16 goals and 60 points. Desharnais would have become an unrestricted free agent this summer.
