Kevin Kolb, the Arizona Cardinals' starting quarterback in Sunday's Hall of Fame preseason game against New Orleans, had to leave in the first quarter because of a rib contusion.
Saints defensive tackle Sedrick Ellis slammed Kolb to the ground, and Kolb fell on his right shoulder.
He left the field under his own power, but NFL.com's Stacey Dales reported that Kolb seemed to be in a lot of pain before heading to the locker room.
Kolb is competing with John Skelton for the starting quarterback job with Arizona.
Kolb was 1-for-4 for 4 yards with an interception before the injury.
Skelton took over after Kolb left and went 4-for-6 for 32 yards. The Saints ended up winning the game 17-10.
