Chasing Manning a no-brainer for Dolphins
Will Manso speaks his mind
I'm not sure why this is really a question. Should the Dolphins go after Peyton Manning, if he's released by the Colts? Well, of course they should!
Over the weekend, I wrote a blog about the Dolphins needing to target a new QB this offseason, and I added Peyton Manning to the list of potential candidates. It may have sounded crazy to some, but it's clearly not crazy to Fins owner Stephen Ross. Now, according to multiple reports, including one from ESPN, Miami has serious interest in Manning.
Again, it's all speculation, at this point, because Manning is still under contract with the Colts and we have no clue if he'll be healthy. Manning's neck injury was a serious one, and I wouldn't be surprised if he never plays a game again. That said, he's focused on coming back, and we know Indy owes him some big money for 2012. With Andrew Luck coming to the Colts soon, I also wouldn't be surprised if Manning is released.
If that's the case, the Dolphins have to, at least, inquire about him. Yes, he'd be a short term fix, but it would give Miami some time to groom a future QB they draft.
The question shouldn't be if Miami should go after Manning, the question should be: how could the Dolphins NOT go after him? To me, it's a no-brainer decision.
