Devils defeat Canadiens, 3-2, behind two power play goals
Having already been eliminated from playoff contention, the Devils scored two power play goals on their way to a 3-2 victory over the Montreal Canadiens tonight at Prudential Center. Patrik Elias notched his 14th goal and Steve Sullivan also scored on the power play. Jacob Josefson scored his first goal of the season for the Devils. There was reason for concern early in the third period when Ilya Kovalchuk lost an edge after taking a shot at and crashed into the base of the end boards. But Kovalchuk got up quickly at the 4:29 mark and said he was okay. It was on Mar. 23 that he slammed into the end boards and injured his right shoulder, missing the next 11 games.
