FSU's Ramsey wins ACC academic honor
Seminoles' senior is first-round draft pick of Cardinals
Florida State's James Ramsey is the repeat selection as the Atlantic Coast Conference baseball scholar-athlete of the year.
The Seminoles' senior outfielder from Alpharetta, Ga., and first-round draft pick of the St. Louis Cardinals is wrapping up his Florida State career in the College World Series at Omaha, Neb. Ramsey carries a .386 batting average into Thursday's CWS elimination game against Arizona. Florida State must defeat Arizona twice to advance.
Ramsey graduated magna cum laude with a bachelors' of science degree in finance last month and was a three-time recipient of the Golden Torch award at Florida State, symbolic of the student-athlete with the highest grade point average on each of the school's athletic teams.
Ramsey led the ACC in slugging percentage, runs scored and on-base percentage.
