Former Dolphins interim coach lands new job
Todd Bowles headed to Philadelphia
TODD BOWLES replaced Sparano on an interim basis and put up a winning 2-1 record in his three games as head coach. But as well-respected as he is in the NFL, Bowles was never a top candidate as it seemed that owner Stephen Ross wanted to look outside the organization for his new head coach.
He was a finalist for the Miami Dolphins head coaching job, but in the end, Todd Bowles will have to settle for coaching the secondary of the Philadelphia Eagles.
Bowles agreed on Monday to join the Eagles coaching staff. He served as the interim head coach in Miami over the final three games of the 2011 season. Bowles led the Dolphins to a 2-1 record.
He interviewed twice for the team's head job before Miami decided to hire Packers offensive coordinator Joe Philbin. Bowles served as Miami's secondary coach under Tony Sparano. Owner Stephen Ross made him the interim coach once Sparano was fired.
