Heat Respond to Jennings' bold prediction
Heat dismiss Jennings' prediction that Bucks will beat Heat in 6 games
A day after Bucks guard Brandon Jennings predicted the Bucks would beat the Heat in the first round of the playoffs, the Heat have a message of their own for the NBA guard.
Just before the Heat and the Bucks tip off in the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs, Bucks guard Brandon Jennings predicted the Bucks would beat the Heat in six games, this according the Bucks official twitter account.
Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra doesn't think much of the comments and has no plans to use it as motivation for his team.
"That wouldn't deserve me bringing it up," he said. "This series will be decided between those four lines and you can't hide from that."
Game 1 of the series starts Sunday at 7 PM. The eighth seeded Bucks come into Sunday's matchup having lost three out of four games to the Heat this season.
"We're only concentrated on what we're doing here," Heat forward LeBron James said "Whatever their confidence or motivation is, that's for them to figure out."
Eleven year NBA veteran Shane Battier was slightly amused by the comments, laughing a little when he was asked about the comments.
"It's a different day and age," Battier said. "I'm old-school from Detroit. There's no need for talk, just play."
Jennings' has had some of his best games against the Heat. In the four games he faced the Heat this season, Jennings' is averaging 23.8 points, almost 6 assists and 4.3 rebounds.
Heat big man Chris Bosh smiled when he was asked about the bold prediction.
"If they already had our attention, now they have more of it. If they want to show their hand, that's fantastic."
