KEY WEST, Fla. -

Michigan sailor Doug DeVos and his Quantum Racing team have clinched victory in the 52 Class at the Key West 2012 sailing regatta off the Florida Keys.

DeVos of Grand Rapids, with tactician Terry Hutchinson of Annapolis, Md., scored three wins Thursday. With two races remaining Friday, Quantum cannot be mathematically overtaken by second-place PowerPlay, owned by Peter Cunningham of Georgetown, Grand Cayman.

RDan, representing Great Britain and owned by Skype cofounder Niklas Zennstrom, has won every race and has clinched the Mini Maxi class.

The competition in the Farr 40 and Melges 32 classes are much closer. Struntje Light with Wolfgang Scheafker of Lueneburg, Germany, at the helm and Charisma, skippered by Nico Poons of Monaco are at the top of the Farr 40 leaderboard. Sampa Pa Ti, with John Kilroy, Jr., of Los Angeles and Pisces, helmed by Benjamin Schwartz of Brightwaters, N.Y. are within three points of each other in the Melges 32 class.
