Lady Canes finish 11th in final poll

Team reached 5th during regular season

After holding steady in the top 10 all year, the Miami Hurricanes women's basketball team finished 11th in the final AP poll released on Wednesday.

Led by All-Americans Shenise Johnson and Riquna Williams, the Lady Canes finished the season with a 26-6 record and an NCAA tournament invitation.

Third-seeded Miami failed to advance to the round of 16 in the tournament when they were beaten by Gonzaga 65-64 in a second round game.

UM reached number 5 in the rankings in February, tying the highest ranking in school history.

Despite the lack of tournament success, Lady Canes head coach Katie Meier was named the AP National Coach of the Year.
