There should have been no question about whether Devils coach Pete DeBoer is returning for next season. But this is, after all, the Devils. So general manager Lou Lamoriello put to rest any questions when he said today that DeBoer will be back next season. "Yes. I've said all along. Put it to rest," Lamoriello said. "I'm never going to answer those questions one way or the other during the (season). But this coaching staff worked as hard as any coaching staff I've had here. I'll just leave it at that." He said he was satisfied that the players played hard for DeBoer all season even while losing. "That to me is the underlining factor," the GM said. He foresees no changes with the rest of the coaching staff, but could not assure that Scott Stevens, Matt Shaw, Dave Barr and Chris Terreri would all come back. "I don't know what is on the horizon for tomorrow. Everybody's situation is individually different. Everybody has different contract situations, so I'm not going to sit here today and say A, B and C," Lamoriello said. * * * Goalie Martin Brodeur, who has one year remaining on his contract, says 2013-14 might not be his final season. "No. Not at all. It's the last year on my contract. That's about it," Brodeur said. i asked him if he some day could envision himself sharing the goalie duties or becoming a backup. Brodeur suggested that he would eventually be receptive to that. He said the toughest part of that for him would be going stretches without playing and then jumping back in. "When I went to free agency some of the conversations I had with teams was (about) sharing (the goaltending)," he said. But he wouldn't battle for a spot on the roster. "I'm not going to beg for a job," he said.
