MIAMI -

Miami Marlins outfielder Giancarlo Stanton is out of Monday's lineup against the Atlanta Braves with what the team is calling a right oblique strain.

Stanton entered the day second in the NL with 34 home runs.

He says the strain first popped up during a swing on Saturday. Stanton was in the lineup on Sunday, going 1 for 3 with a run scored.

Stanton says he expects to be in the Marlins' lineup on Tuesday. Manager Ozzie Guillen says he would rather have Stanton miss "a couple of days" instead of potentially losing him for the remainder of the season, though added that he will evaluate Stanton's status on Tuesday.
