NBA fines Mavericks' Cuban $75K, Carlisle $35K

The NBA fined Dallas Mavericks outspoken owner Mark Cuban $75,000 for his comments about the officiating following Wednesday's 95-86 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The league also issued a $35,000 fine for Rick Carlisle after the Mavericks' coach kicked a ball into the stands. The ball landed in the vicinity of a young boy, prompting Carlisle to immediately apologize to the fans in the area. He also led off his postgame news conference with another mea culpa.

Cuban boiled over after Carlisle was ejected from the contest.

"Look, I haven't said a whole lot about the officiating in a long, long time, but I haven't seen it this bad in a long, long time," Cuban told ESPNDallas.com on Thursday. "Guys miss calls; that's part of the game. You're not always going to have a great crew. Officials have got to learn that's part of the game.

"But these were officials (Ron Garretson, Michael Smith and Mark Ayotte) that have been part of the league for years, and it was just off-the-charts bad. And, if no one ever says anything, nothing ever happens."

Carlisle kicked the ball into the stands after Oklahoma City was not whistled for a perceived infraction early in the fourth quarter.
