MIAMI -

Olympic bronze medalist and Miami resident Danell Leyva feels right home in his Kendall gym.

"It really hasn’t hit me yet, I’m just here in the gym feeling normal,” said Leyva.

Just like any other day, his stepfather and coach, Yin Alvarez, was close by. But for the kids at the gym, it was extraordinary.

“Training with Danell is something that everyone wants to do, so we really enjoy it with him,” said Alvarez.

Just a week and a half ago, the 20 year old won the bronze medal in the men's all-around competition, making him the only American man to medal in gymnastics.

“Literally all of the hard work, all of the struggles, all the sacrifices, everyone who supports me, friends and family, everything just flashed before me,” said Leyva.

Miami’s first Olympic gymnast arrived at Miami International Airport late Wednesday to find fans and news crews eagerly waiting. After posing for pictures, he went straight to the place he missed most.

“Last night when we got here, we went to Sergio’s and had a great time. So good. So, so good. Rice and beans. Amazing," said Leyva.

Leyva will go for the gold in 2016, but he has some other goals in mind before he starts training again.

“I would love to host SNL (Saturday Night Live) and then take a vacation and then come back stronger than I did in London," he added.
