Sue Paterno is expected to receive a payment of $10.1 million this month with the remaining pension fund to be spread over 20-24 months.
Pennsylvania Employees Retirement System used the formula to calculate the payment. Paterno coached at Penn State for 61 years before his death at age 85 on Jan. 22. He was fired Nov. 9 when the Board of Trustees cited his failure to follow up on a direct accusation of child sexual abuse against defensive coach Jerry Sandusky, whose trial for 52 counts of sexual abuse is scheduled to begin June 5.
Sue Paterno maintains the residence on McKee Street the couple lived in since 1962 in State College, Pa., and remains active in university-related events and fundraising efforts.
