Miami Marlins slugger Giancarlo Stanton will compete in the annual Home Run Derby leading up to the All-Star game.

Stanton confirmed Wednesday he will play in the power showcase to be held in Kansas City this year.

Stanton is among the leading home run hitters in the National League with 17 longballs.

Stanton was selected to the NL squad by designated captain Matt Kemp.  It is not known yet whether Stanton will play in the All-Star game.
