Veteran defenseman Marek Zidlicky signed a one-year contract on Tuesday to remain with the New Jersey Devils.
The 37-year-old finished last season as one of the Devils' top scorers with 12 goals and 30 assists in 81 games. He led the team in power play goals with eight, power play points with 18 and penalty minutes with 60.
In 151 games since he joined the Devils after leaving Minnesota in 2012, Zidlicky has 18 goals and 51 assists.
"He wanted to come back and obviously we wanted him back," Devils general manager Lou Lamoriello said. "He had an outstanding year. He was the key ingredient to our power play. He was a 1-2 punch with (Jaromir) Jagr."
Zidlicky will enter his fourth season with the Devils in 2014-15 and his 11th overall in the NHL. He has 78 goals, 367 points and 604 penalty minutes in 699 career games with the Nashville Predators, Wild and Devils.
