A.J. Francis says he applied to be Uber driver

MIAMI – A Miami Dolphins player is hoping to moonlight as an Uber driver.

Defensive tackle A.J. Francis said Thursday on Twitter that he has applied to be a driver for the for-hire transportation company.

Francis said in a tweet, "Just applied to be an @Uber driver… I hope my background check goes well."

The 24-year-old elaborated in another tweet why he decided to be an Uber driver.

"People ask me why would you want to be an @uber driver if you play in the NFL… You know what's better than NFL money? More money."

Francis signed with Miami as an undrafted free agent in 2013. He spent the entire 2014 season on injured reserve.
