PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. -

President Barack Obama appointed several more people to key administration posts Thursday, including former Miami Heat star Alonzo Mourning.

Mourning will now be a member of the President's Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition.

Earlier this month, Mourning was named as an inductee in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

The seven-time NBA all-star and two-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year is the all-time leader in blocked shots for Miami with 1,625.

Other celebrities that were also appointed to the same council Thursday include NBA player Jason Collins and television host Rachel Ray.
