Alonzo Mourning appointed to President's Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition

Former Miami Heat star joins NBA player Jason Collins, TV host Rachel Ray

Alonzo Mourning has been inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. – President Barack Obama appointed several more people to key administration posts Thursday, including former Miami Heat star Alonzo Mourning.

Mourning will now be a member of the President's Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition.

Earlier this month, Mourning was named as an inductee in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

The seven-time NBA all-star and two-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year is the all-time leader in blocked shots for Miami with 1,625.

Other celebrities that were also appointed to the same council Thursday include NBA player Jason Collins and television host Rachel Ray.
