MIAMI -

Heat owner Micky Arison took to social media to welcome back Chris Andersen to the team.

Reports Tuesday night indicated that Chris "Birdman" Andersen would sign a one-year contract with Miami for the veteran minimum.

The Heat had not given official word, until Arison's tweet. The Heat's Twitter account later announced the signing.

Birdman played a critical role in Miami's second straight championship. He provided energy off the bench, rebounding, and quickly became a fan favorite.

Andersen joined the Heat on a 10-day contract mid-season. He was a part of Miami's 27-game winning streak and championship run.
