Clay's Plays: Breakdown of Dolphins-Bills

That was a beautiful win!!!

Ok, so it wasn't the prettiest football for the first 3 quarters, but it's as beautiful as any W the Fins have had this season -- divisional game against a team fighting to keep its playoff hopes alive in November. Onto the plays!

3. Tannehill to Gibson for 1st TD

Honestly, this is only here because half the stadium and TV viewers were falling asleep and it guaranteed that yes, someone would score a TD in this game.

2. Odrick screen stuff/safety

Yeah, I'm cheating, but "Clay's sequences" doesn't flow. The intentional grounding safety got all of the attention because it was an iffy call, but Odrick's play on 2nd and 20 made this possible. The Bills tried to set up a screen to get out of the shadow of the end zone, but Odrick read it perfectly and stuffed it for a big loss. Next play was the controversial safety and the Fins were up 3.

1. Landry fumble/Delmas dropped int/Carpenter missed FG/Landry TD

Ok, now I'm really stretching the whole "plays" thing, but this sequence, with its wild momentum shifts, decided the game.

After the safety, Jarvis Landry fumbled the free kickoff. It immediately stopped all the momentum the Dolphins had built up. Then Louis Delmas dropped a gift-wrapped interception from Kyle Orton. The Fins D held tough, though, and forced what would have been a game-tying FG. But Dan Carpenter missed it. The happiest man in the building was Landry, who showed his gratitude by capping off the Fins' ensuing drive with a TD reception that put the Bills away for good.
