Hurricanes hoops picked to finish 9th in ACC preseason poll

Duke preseason pick to win ACC; Florida State picked 8th

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami men's basketball team was picked Wednesday to finish ninth out of 15 teams in the Atlantic Coast Conference this season.

Miami, 13-5 in the ACC last season, was picked just behind Florida State by media members who attended the conference's media day in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Duke is the favorite to win the ACC, receiving 85 of 91 total first-place votes. Defending ACC champion North Carolina received six first-place votes to finish second behind the Blue Devils.

Virginia, Louisville, Syracuse, North Carolina State and Notre Dame were picked ahead of the Seminoles, who won eight conference games and 20 total games last season.

The predicted order of finish after Miami is Virginia Tech, Clemson, Pittsburgh, Wake Forest, Georgia Tech and Boston College.

Duke guard Grayson Allen received 70 first-place votes for ACC preseason player of the year. Miami senior Davon Reed received one vote.

The Hurricanes finished tied for second place with Virginia in last season's ACC standings.
