"I have been in constant contact and have visited with both Reggie and his family," head coach Charlie Partridge said in a statement. "His FAU football family has surrounded him with support and will continue to do so. Out of respect for Reggie, his family and our team, all questions should only be directed to me."

Bain's injuries are not life-threatening, but the school declined to provide specifics of the crash, citing privacy laws.

"He is in great spirits," Partridge said during his weekly news conference Monday. "He is getting great medical care. I was with him and his family right away on Friday after the traffic accident. I also saw him (Sunday) and on Saturday."

Partridge said Bain "is in a very good place."

Bain has started all 24 games of his college career since arriving on the Boca Raton campus from Miami Central Senior High School in 2014. He was named to the 2016 Conference USA preseason team.

Redshirt senior Dillon DeBoer is expected to step in at left tackle for the Owls in Bain's absence.

Because he played as a true freshman, Bain could redshirt this season and have two years of eligibility remaining.

FAU opens its season Saturday at home against Southern Illinois.
