Hurricane Matthew shuffles Florida college football schedules

FAU, UCF home games rescheduled; Florida's game against LSU postponed

PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. – Hurricane Matthew came and went without much impact to South Florida, but it did take a toll on several weekend sporting events.

No. 18 Florida (4-1, 2-1 Southeastern Conference) was scheduled to host Louisiana State (3-2, 1-1 SEC) at noon Saturday, but the game was postponed indefinitely because of the storm. The teams do not share an open weekend, so rescheduling the game could involve shuffling other games.

That was not the case for Friday night's scheduled game between Tulane (3-2, 0-1 American Athletic Conference) and Central Florida (3-2, 1-0 AAC), which was rescheduled to Nov. 5 because of their mutual open weekend.

Florida Atlantic (1-4, 0-1 Conference USA) rescheduled Saturday afternoon's game against Charlotte (1-4, 0-1 C-USA) to Sunday at noon.

Although Saturday night's rivalry game between No. 23 Florida State (3-2, 0-2 Atlantic Coast Conference) and 10th-ranked Miami (4-0, 1-0 ACC) at Hard Rock Stadium will be played, the storm forced the Seminoles to leave Tallahassee a day later than normal. The Seminoles were scheduled to depart for South Florida at 10 a.m. Friday.
