"The mission for me is to win every single game," Kaaya said Tuesday. "The plan also, of course, is to win the Coastal (Division) and an (Atlantic Coast Conference) championship. Here at Miami, we're not going to short sight ourselves of our goals, so that's the plan for me and my teammates as well."

Richt said he's glad to finally be returning to football.

"I'm looking forward to getting one under our belt," he said. "I've been here almost nine months now, and it's been a lot of work between the first day and today."

RichtĀ was asked about starting three freshmen at linebacker. Ā

"I think the big thing is just the fact that they've been here for a long time," he said. "They've been here since January. They went through spring football."

Defensive end Al-Quadin Muhammad and linebacker Jermaine Grace were dismissed from the team last weekend.

"We just go back to work," Richt said. "I talked to the team about how football is a game of attrition. Sometimes attrition happens like this. Sometimes it happens from an injury. Sometimes it happens because of a transfer, and sometimes it happens because of academics."
