Kaaya is reunited with tight ends coach Al Golden, who, as former head coach of the Hurricanes, recruited Kaaya in Miami.

During his three seasons at Miami, Kaaya started 38 games, threw 69 touchdown passes and became the school's all-time leader in passing yards (9,968), completions (720) and attempts (1,188). He threw 14 touchdown passes against just one interception in his final five games.

Kaaya is the first 'Canes quarterback chosen in the NFL draft since Ken Dorsey was taken in the seventh round by the San Francisco 49ers in 2003.
