Miami Hurricanes to open 2017 ACC schedule against familiar foe

Hurricanes play 5 of last 7 games at Hard Rock Stadium

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The Miami Hurricanes will face rival Florida State in their first Atlantic Coast Conference game of the 2017 football season.

A Sept. 16 road trip to Tallahassee and a Nov. 11 home game against Notre Dame highlight the 2017 schedule, released Tuesday by the ACC.

Miami opens the season Sept. 2 against Bethune-Cookman. The Hurricanes then play consecutive road games at Arkansas State and at Florida State in September before returning home to host Toledo.

The Hurricanes have lost seven straight against Florida State. Last year's rivalry game was decided on a blocked extra point, sealing a 20-19 victory for the Seminoles.

Miami's last win against the Seminoles was a 38-34 victory in Tallahassee on Labor Day evening in 2009. That was also the last time Miami opened its conference schedule against the Seminoles.

After an Oct. 7 open date, Miami hosts Georgia Tech on a Thursday night and Syracuse on consecutive weekends. Miami concludes its October scheduled with a trip to North Carolina.

Miami will play five of its final seven games at home after the bye week.

The Hurricanes will only leave Hard Rock Stadium once in November, traveling to Pittsburgh on the Friday before Thanksgiving in the regular-season finale.

Miami ended the 2016 season on a five-game winning streak, including a 31-14 victory against West Virginia in the Russell Athletic Bowl, to finish with a final ranking of No. 20 in The Associated Press poll.
