Athletic director cites violation of department rules

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami junior linebacker Juwon Young has been suspended indefinitely for a violation of department rules, athletic director Blake James said Friday in a one-sentence statement.

According to a Miami Herald report, the school is investigating whether Young received the use of a luxury vehicle from a car agency.

The report said the school is also investigating defensive end Al Quadin Muhammad and whether he committed an NCAA violation.

James did not elaborate beyond his statement.

Miami running back Mark Walton was suspended in April after his DUI arrest.

Young started five games for the Hurricanes last season, finishing second on the team with 57 tackles.

Mohammad led the team with five sacks and 8.5 tackles for loss last season.

Miami's probationary period from the Nevin Shapiro scandal is expected to expire in October.
