The New York Cosmos snapped the Fort Lauderdale Strikers five-game unbeaten streak with a 2-0 victory at Lockhart Stadium on Saturday.
A club record 7,653 people saw the game, the first in South Florida between the NASL rivals since 1983.
Diomar Díaz scored both goals for the visitors.
“We weren’t aggressive enough in the first half,” said Strikers assistant coach Raoul Voss. “If you give this team too much space, they’ll punish you.”
The Strikers face the Carolina Railhawks on Saturday, Sept. 28.
