MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. - Cristiano Ronaldo scored a pair of dazzling goals, lifting Real Madrid to a 3-1 victory over Chelsea in the final of the Guinness International Champions Cup on Wednesday night.
Marcelo Vieira also scored for Real Madrid, which became the event's inaugural champion by topping a Chelsea club now coached by Jose Mourinho. He left Real Madrid earlier this year for a return to Chelsea.
Ronaldo's first goal off a free kick came in the 31st minute, curling it just under the crossbar and off the fingertips of diving Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech. Ronaldo added a header in the 57th minute.
In the 67th minute, a man wearing a Ronaldo jersey ran onto the field, slid up to the Portuguese star, then hugged him for about 30 seconds. He was then escorted off the pitch.
Ramires scored for Chelsea, which posted a pair of shutouts to get into the championship match.
