Cristobal signs contract extension

FIU keeps coach through 2017

MIAMI - FIU announced that head coach Mario Cristobal has signed a contract extension through 2017.

In August 2011, Cristobal received a five-year deal to remain with the team until June 2016.

On Friday, that deal was extended until June 2017.

Cristobal's base salary will be above $450,000.

He will also have performance bonuses worth over $100,000.

Cristobal said, "It is a privilege to be at FIU."

Cristobal has guided FIU to a 15-7 mark during is last 22 games, the best stretch in the program's history.
