FIU's basketball court to feature new design

Golden Panthers head coach tweeted designs

MIAMI – The Florida International University basketball team may not make headlines for their play, but starting next season, they could be one of the most interesting teams in the country.

Unfortunately, the spotlight will shine brighter on the court than the Golden Panthers players.

FIU head coach Richard Pitino used his Twitter account to send out potential designs for his team's new court and they are certainly interesting to say the least.

One of the designs features a sandy beach and palm tree shadows, while the other highlights the South Florida skyline.

No word on if either of these designs will actually be used, but even the thought of them appearing inside the Golden Panthers home arena has garnered more interest than the team received all of last season.

Work on the court is expected to begin at the end of the month. The FIU women's basketball team is currently playing in the NIT.
